Destinations - Riviera Makarska

Makarska

Nature was very inclined towards Makarska, providing it with location in a natural port situated between peninsula Osejava and St. Petar where, in the most beautiful way, Mediterranean meets karst. Here you can enjoy summer heat bathing in azure blue sea whose cool and purity relaxes body and mind or visit mountain Biokovo above the town. Makarska has Mediterranean charm and relaxed everyday rhythm, which is easily adopted by tourists. Already the first morning after arrival, they enjoy sipping their first coffee, still dreamy, and later, go to beach and spend time without constantly watching at the clock.

Baska Voda, only 10 km from Makarska, is a modern tourist destination on the breathtaking Makarska Riviera, known for its pebble beaches that go on for kilometers and are surrounded by pine trees. Baska Voda, inhabited since ancient times, used to be a fishing settlement. Thanks to the beautiful coastline and sea, as well as its geographical position at the foot of Biokovo - popular with hikers and nature lovers - it has developed into a well-known tourist destination offering a wide range of tourist services and accommodation including hotels, private rooms and apartments, perfect for a pleasant family holiday. Apart from its beautiful landscape and coastline, Baska Voda also offers numerous cultural and entertainment events, such as traditional and religious festivities, as well as the following sporting activities: tennis, football, handball, table tennis, mini-golf, fishing, diving and sailing. Tucepi is a central Dalmatian tourist destination, placed on Makarska Riviera and lies only 4 km from the town of Makarska. Tucepi has been inhabited since ancient times, while its inhabitants in the past primarily lived off of agriculture. Thanks to its beautiful coastline and first class accommodation, Tucepi has become a favorite tourist destination. We recommend Tucepi to those looking for pebble beaches surrounded by pine and olive trees. There are sporting facilities in hotels, water sports equipment can be rented on the beach, while Biokovo Mountain is a real challenge for speleologists, alpinists and all who like to go hiking and spending time outdoors. Tucepi is known for its specialties that are served both in large and comfortable restaurants and in small picturesque konobas (local restaurants). If coming by boat, there are 70 berths in Tucepi marina.

Welcome to Podgora, a tourist destination and harbor on Makarska\'s splendid shoreline. The place has over 1500 inhabitants and can boast of having an excellent tourist offer, as well as numerous hotels and restaurants, apartments and rooms. The entire Makarska Riviera is known for its kilometer long pebble beaches that are sandy at some places, therefore, this destination is great for families with small children looking to play in shallow waters. Greenery and pine trees extend to the shoreline, while sports and recreational facilities are abundant. Many events, such as Fishermen Night, Podgora Day and various local festivals take place during the summer.

Živogošće

On the southern part of the Makarska Riviera, at the foothill of mount Biokovo there lies Živogošce. It is comprised of three smaller, non-coherent places on the coast: Porat - Mala Duba – Blato, and old hamlets along the old road. It is only 20 km away from Makarska, 80 km from Split and 120 km from Dubrovnik. Živogošce has been inhabited since Illyrian and Roman times, to which Illyrian tombs on top of hill Suzina stand as witnesses. Also, villa Rustika in Mala Duba and Blato does the same. The well known Licinianus epigram from 474. g. In it the roman questor Licinianus celebrates the source of «drinking water», which still flows there. As a settlement, Živogošce is for the first time mentioned in the mid 13th century.
