Bavaria Cup International youth football tournament

Bavaria Cup International youth football tournament

1. Easter, 19 April - 20 April 2014
Karlsfeld, Germany

In 1999 the Bavaria Cup was the first international youth football tournament in the Euro-Sportring programme in the Munich region and has since remained a much-loved tournament.

Meanwhile, the organisers know how things are done. The international youth football tournament takes place in a well kept sports park in Karlsfeld, a quiet community on the northern side of the Bavarian capital. The organisers offer a programme with, among others, an opening ceremony and an official prize distribution in the stadium. The team leaders are also welcomed at the town hall by the mayor. A visit to the nearby Allianz Arena is a must for many.

Organisation

TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld

The Bavaria Cup is organised by TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld. TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld was established in 1950 and is currently Bavaria’s most eminent omni-sports club. The club has nineteen divisions, ranging from football to dancing and from taekwondo to skiing and mountaineering. Many youth teams of this club compete at a very high level.

Facilities

The multifunctional sports complex of TSV Eintracht Karlsfeld has, among others, a stadium for football and athletics, one artificial grass pitch, two grass pitches, a sports hall, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a skate park. There are of course also changing rooms and a club house with bar and restaurant. Furthermore, the sports park lies right by the Karlsfelder See where you can have a swim in between matches.

Touristic information

Markt Schwaben

Markt Schwaben has 11,000 inhabitants and lies in the state of Bavaria, 23 kilometres from Munich. The medieval centre dates from the 11th century and gives the village a unique charm. There are several places of interest such as the old castle, the town hall and the Heimat Museum.

Olympia Park

Olympia Park is the Olympic stadium built for the 1972 Olympic Games, former home of the Bayern Munchen football club. The stadium, hall, swimming pool and tennis park are open to everyone. There are daily tours with a guide and large events and concerts are organised in the park regularly. There are also a number of restaurants here, including the revolving restaurant at the top of the Olympiaturm tower 290 metres above ground level. Eating here is certainly worth the effort.

Allianz Arena

The Allianz Arena is the home base of FC Bayern München. It was also the opening stadium of the World Championships in 2006. The new, hypermodern stadium is a definite eye-catcher. The building’s transparent dome changes colour and can be seen from afar.

Munich

Munich - the bustling capital of Bavaria- has something to suit all tastes and is easy to access by metro. There is traditional Bavarian architecture, many shops in the partially pedestrianised centre and culture: when weather permits, the long wooden tables are soon filled with people who come to eat sausages and drink beer. Entertainment district Schwabing is extremely convivial, but the nightlife of Münchener Freiheit is also well-known, not only in Munich but also much further afield.
